Just before the sanctum is a mantapa known as the Gayathri mantapa for it has 24 pillars corresponding to the 24 aksharas of the Gayathri the vimana coverin g this is the Pranava akara. The kalasas on the Pranavakara vimana represents the vyahutis. Just by visiting the temple one is blessed for he stands before the Lord in the Gayathri mantapa to have the darshan of the Lord so even if he does not recite the Gayathri he is blessed.
