This was the very first PAsuram after Thirumangai Mannan was blessed by the lord to become Thirumangai AzhvAr. Having waylaid a wedding party in search of wealth to support his charity cause in VedarAjapuram near ThiruvAli-Thirunagari, Thirumangai had darshan of the Lord and Goddess in a KalyANa KOlam (wedding attire). When the lord reveals to him the robber king realized his birth and the accompanying desires and miseries of human life. He then realizes that the lord’s name NARAYANA is the ultimate solution to all problems. He sings 10 pAsurams right away. The first one is discussed here.

To be continued.
