Why this delay to protect me? As among all types of charity, the highest and most reputed on is sacrifice - TyAga - so also among deities, which bestow small favors, you are the best. Barring you, who else can protect me? Day in and day out roaming about feverishly and finding no way out, I have come seeking shelter at your feet, surrendering my body and my possessions, as they really belong only to you. My favorite God! Is it difficult for you to grant my prayer? To grant this TyAgarAja's desires, why this delay?

TA-4

 Once upon a time, Thirumazhisai Yazhvar was stitching a cloth. At that time, Eesan and Parvathi were moving  in Rishabh vehicle.

At that time Devi said, ′′ Who is this? She asked me ′′ Eesan answered ′′ He is a great Tejas. The best Vaishnavar was praised by Vaishnavar bhakta.
She was surprised. She said, ′′ Come on, let's give the boon if you want Both of them came towards the place of Thirumazhisai Yazhvar.

Thirumazhisaiyar was very careful in sewing the cloth. ′′ We have come to give boon. You look so careless! Siva-Parvathi asked ′′

But Mr. Mazhisai said, ′′ I don't want anything
They continuously asked, ′′ When we come forward to give boon, why do you refuse.

 Ok, can you give the Paramapath of the world of salvation? Thirumazhisai Yazhvar asked
′′ Mokshamicheth Janarthanath. The one who can give salvation is Mukundan,  Ask something else ′′ said, Mahadevar.

He said, ′′ Well, long life to receive that face and to enjoy its spiritual devices
′′ Your life is already written. I can't extend it ′′ Eesan replied.

At last Mr. Mazhisai Yazhvar said, ′′ Make this thread easily come through the hole of the needle.

After listening to this, Paramasivam got angry. He opened his forehead, saying, ′′ I will pierce you like an an anangan (like a manmadhan), so that there is no body like a man (like a manmadhan). Agni flame rebelled from it.

When he saw this, Mr. Mazhisaippiran opened an eye on the thumb of his right thumb by saying, ′′ Even if the whole body is seen like Indhiran.

From it a great fire arose and the fire of the time became several times bigger, controlling the fire that was torn from the forehead and started to burn the face of the face.

Ganga Dharan Eesan showered many clouds from his body to calm down the fire like a corrupt rain.

As the clouds also rained, there would be a huge flood. The Parama Bhagavadharan Thirumazhisai Yazhvar, did not move a little bit, but he was meditating on the  Lord.

At the end, Tripuranthakar Siva Peruman awarded Alwar as 'Bhakti Sarar' and joined Kayilayam.

There cannot be a greater Bhakta than Lord Siva for he is always contemplating on Vishnu and so is Lord Vishnu having Siva in great esteem. 

Even if the above has happened it only goes to show how to emphasize on the bhakti of a devotee God takes various roles to set an example.

How great is Alwar Bhakti for Tirumalisai alwar pasurams have got an intelligent content in them. Simple living high thinking living example.

People who narrate these stories have exaggerated them to a great extent or we are not able to comprehend that these things did happen.

Thirumazhisai and stayed in a hill cave, thinking that many would harm him.

at that time the first three Alwars knowing he was there visited him all four of them spent time ruminating on the glory of the Lord and each derived a great source of joy.

after some time they all came to triplicane and performed a yaga for a long time 

to be continued.

KVRP

 According to the sthala-purana, Lord Brahma practiced severe austerities with the desire of seeing the beautiful four-handed form of the Supreme Lord and the Lord manifested in the form of water (at Pushkar in Rajasthan).

As Lord Brahma wanted to see the beautiful four-handed form of Lord Vishnu he was disappointed. Lord Brahma once again went to a different place and started practicing severe austerities to propitiate Him.

However, the Lord manifested in the form of forest (at Naimisharanya in Uttar Pradesh) this time and Lord Brahma was once again disappointed. Lord Brahma appealed to the Supreme Lord to bless him with the vision of His enchanting four-handed form. An akashavani (ethereal voice) asked Lord Brahma to perform 100 Ashvamedha sacrifices if he wanted to have a vision of the Lord.

Lord Brahma did not have the patience to perform 100 Ashvamedha sacrifices as that would take a very long time. Therefore, Lord Brahma requested the akashavani to tell him if there were any short-cuts.

The akashavani once again said that performing one sacrifice at a particular location in South India is equal to performing 100 sacrifices at any other place on this planet. Being pleased with the akashavani’s advice, Lord Brahma came to the location that was identified by the akashavani and started preparations for performing the sacrifice.

In his eagerness to see the Lord at the earliest, Lord Brahma forgot to invite his consort Goddess Sarasvati to the sacrifice and this enraged Sarasvati. Sarasvati decided to disturb the sacrifice and prevent the successful completion of the sacrifice.

Sarasvati created various demons and sent them to vandalize the sacrifice. As Lord Brahma was not supposed to fight when he was performing the sacrifice, he had invoked none other than the Supreme Lord to protect his sacrifice and, thereby, ensure its successful completion.

The Supreme Lord Narayana appeared in an eight-handed form and destroyed all the demons that were sent by Sarasvati in a flash and foiled all their efforts to disturb the sacrifice. Therefore, the Supreme Lord is worshipped in His eight handed form as Ashtabuja Perumal in one of the temples at Kanchipuram even today.

The frustrated Sarasvati manifested as Vegavati river and started flowing towards the sacrificial arena with great speed with the intention of washing away things that were stored for the successful completion of the sacrifice. The Supreme Lord manifested along with His serpent in a reclining posture on the path of Vegavati river.

River Vegavati, a manifestation of Sarasvati, saw the reclining form of the Lord and decided to flow underground to avoid incurring the wrath of the Supreme Lord. This form of the Lord is worshipped at Thiru-vekha, within the present Kanchipuram town, as Bhujanga-sayana Perumal even today.

According to the sthala purana, the Lord was reclining on the Sesha on His right hand side when He appeared as Bhujanga-sayana Perumal. As Vegavati river had offered her prayers to the Lord before going underground, a Deity of Vegavati personified was symbolically installed near His feet. This temple of Lord Bhujanga-sayana Perumal and its surrounding places came to be known as Thiru-vekha.

Thus, Lord Narayana thwarted Sarasvati’s efforts to prevent the successful completion of Lord Brahma’s Ashvamedha sacrifice and at the conclusion of the sacrifice; Lord Vishnu appeared in His four-handed form in the sacrificial pit as Varada, the giver of boons. Lord Brahma requested Lord Vishnu to stay in that place always and, therefore, Lord Vishnu continued to abide in that place as Varada-Raja Perumal.

As Lord Brahma who is referred to as “ka” in the Vedic scriptures worshipped Lord Vishnu in that particular place, it came to be known as Kanchi and later on grew into a big city. The abode of the Lord in the form of Varadaraja Perumal came to be known as Hasthagiri.

 Thirumazhisai-alwar continued his meditation on the Supreme Lord for a very long time and he once had a vision of the Lord’s Deity form as reclining on His Anantha at Thiru-kkudandai, the present Kumbakonam. The Deity of the Lord at Kumbakonam is popularly called as Ara-vamudan or Sarangapani Perumal.

Being captivated by the beauty of the Lord, Thirumazhisai-alwar decided to pay a visit to the Lord and spend some time at Kumbakonam. After taking the permission of Yadhokthakari Perumal, who was very dear to him, Thirumazhisai-alwar proceeded to Kumbakonam. After reaching a remote village called Perum Puliyur on his way to Kumbakonam, Thirumazhisai-alwar decided to rest for a while beneath the protruding roof of one of the houses. The Brahmanas who were reciting Vedas in that house stopped their chanting as soon as they saw Thirumazhisai-alwar coming towards them; as in those days shudras were prohibited from chanting Vedas or even listening to them.

After sometime, the Brahmanas wanted to resume their recitation and none of them could recollect the verses that they were chanting. Thirumazhisai-alwar, who was standing at a distance, reminded them the verses that they had forgotten by removing the husk of the paddy grain with his fingers as the verses were related to a ritual in which the wife of the performer of Rajasuya sacrifice removes the husk from the paddy grain. The Brahmanas realized that he was not an ordinary man though he appeared to be a shudra and fell at his feet seeking forgiveness.

It is said that the presiding Deity of Perum Puliyur turned His head towards the direction that Thirumazhisai-alwar went and the people who noticed it went and reported the same to Perum Puliyur Adigal, who was known for his piety in the village. After verifying what he heard from the villagers, Perum Puliyur Adigal went and fell at Thirumazhisai-alwar’s feet, offered his obeisance and took Thirumazhisai- alwar to the sacrificial arena where many Brahmanas were performing a sacrifice.

The Brahmanas, who were busy performing various sacrifices, started shouting at Adigal for bringing Thirumazhisai-alwar, a shudra, and humiliated the alwar by making derogatory comments against him for entering the sacrificial arena as shudras were not supposed to enter the sacrificial arena. Being hurt at the attitude of the ignorant Brahmanas, Thirumazhisai-alwar decided to teach them a lesson and requested the Lord, who was enshrined in his heart, to reveal Himself to enlighten the puffed-up Brahmanas.

The Lord appeared as if He was reclining on Anantha in a gigantic form in the sky and all the Brahmanas were astonished to see that and immediately prostrated before the alwar. They apologized to him, carried him on their shoulders to a chariot and took him in procession around the village to seek his forgiveness and blessings. The alwar imparted various esoteric secrets that can help one to realize the Absolute Truth and become closer to the Supreme Lord to the aspiring Brahmanas before continuing his journey to Kumbakonam.

It is said that the all-merciful Lord, who is reclining on His serpent as Lord Sarangapani at Kumbakonam, started to rise to receive and welcome Thirumazhisai-alwar as soon as he reached the precincts of the temple and the alwar who saw the Lord rise requested Him to stay as He is. Therefore, the Deity of the Lord at Kumbakonam seems as if He is getting ready to rise from His sleeping pose even today. It is said that the alwar was moved by that gesture of the Lord and started to meditate on that form while staying at Kumbakonam.

According to tradition, Thirumazhisai-alwar meditated on that form of the Lord for 2,300 years before concluding his pastimes, which lasted for 4,700 years, on this planet. Thirumazhisai-alwar has composed 216 hymns (pasurams), which are classified under two titles – Nanmugan-tiruvandadi and Thiru-channda-vrattam.

Thiru-channda-vrattam that consists of 120 hymns is included in the first thousand hymns of Nalayira-Divya-Prabandham and Nanmugan-tiruvandadi, which consists of 96 hymns, is included in the third thousand hymns of the Divya-Prabandham.

anukulyasya — of anything that assists devotional service to the Lord; sankalpah — acceptance; pratikulyasya — of anything that hinders devotional service; varjanam — complete rejection; raksisyati — He will protect; iti — thus; visvasah — strong conviction; goptrtve — in being the guardian, like the father or husband, master or maintainer; varanam — acceptance; tatha — as well as; atma-niksepa — full self-surrender; karpanye — and humility; sat-vidha — sixfold; sarana-agatih — process of surrender.
The six divisions of surrender are the acceptance of those things favorable to devotional service, the rejection of unfavorable things, the conviction that Krishna will give protection, the acceptance of the Lord as one’s guardian or master, full self-surrender, and humility.
