Datta Patil is a resident of Santa Clara, California. He earns a lucrative income as the Director of Engineering at Yahoo, USA. 

But his heart resides in Halgara, a tiny village in the Latur district of Maharashtra, where he was born.

Datta makes sure he visits his family once in every year, and take them on pilgrimages. 

It was during one such trip in 2016 that he forayed into transforming Halgara from a drought-hit to a drought-free village.

In the last three years, he has spent over 22 lakhs from his own pocket recharging the groundwater level. Apart from desilting canals with his motivated team which consisted of friends, families, and villagers, Datta built 26 check dams.

In fact, if you were to look at the satellite images of Halgara before 2016 and after 2018, you’d be stunned at the green cover that now graces it.
