The आदिव्याधि निवारण मन्त्रम् (Ādi-vyādhi Nivāraṇa Mantram)—a set of four verses traditionally recited for relief from illness and for invoking the grace of Lord Nārāyaṇa. Here is the text with transliteration and meaning.

॥ आदिव्याधि निवारण मन्त्रम् ॥

अच्युतानन्तगोविन्द नामोच्चारणभेषजात् ।

नश्यन्ति सकला रोगाः सत्यं सत्यं वदाम्यहम् ॥

Transliteration: Acyutānanta Govinda nāmocchāraṇa-bheṣajāt |

Naśyanti sakalā rogāḥ satyaṃ satyaṃ vadāmyaham ||

Meaning: "The very utterance of the divine names Acyuta, Ananta, and Govinda is a powerful medicine. All diseases are destroyed by it. Truly, truly, I declare this."

सत्यं सत्यं पुनः सत्यं उद्धृत्य भुजमुच्यते ।

वेदाच्छास्त्रात् परं नास्ति न देवः केशवात्परः ॥

Transliteration: Satyaṃ satyaṃ punaḥ satyaṃ uddhṛtya bhujam ucyate |

Vedāc chāstrāt paraṃ nāsti na devaḥ Keśavāt paraḥ ||

Meaning: "Again and again I proclaim this truth with raised arms: there is no scripture higher than the Vedas, and there is no deity greater than Lord Keśava."

शरीरे जर्जरीभूते व्याधिग्रस्ते कलेवरे ।

औषधं जाह्नवीतोयं वैद्यो नारायणो हरिः ॥

Transliteration: Śarīre jarjarībhūte vyādhi-graste kalevare |

Auṣadhaṃ Jāhnavī-toyaṃ vaidyo Nārāyaṇo Hariḥ ||

Meaning: "When the body becomes weak and afflicted with disease, the water of the sacred Ganga is the medicine, and Lord Nārāyaṇa Himself is the physician."

आलोच्य सर्वशास्त्राणि विचार्य च पुनः पुनः ।

इदमेकं सुनिष्पन्नं ध्येयो नारायणो हरिः ॥

Transliteration: Ālocya sarva-śāstrāṇi vicārya ca punaḥ punaḥ |

Idam ekaṃ suniṣpannaṃ dhyeyo Nārāyaṇo Hariḥ ||

Meaning: "After studying and reflecting repeatedly upon all the scriptures, one conclusion stands firm: Lord Nārāyaṇa alone is the One worthy of constant meditation."

The beautiful message

These verses harmoniously unite faith and medicine. They do not dismiss medical treatment; rather, they remind us that while medicines heal the body, God's grace strengthens the mind, heart, and spirit. The third verse expresses this beautifully: medicine is sacred, the Ganga is sanctifying, and the Divine Physician is Lord Nārāyaṇa.

Together, the four verses teach that:

The Divine Name is a healing force.

Keśava is the Supreme Refuge.

Physical treatment and divine grace go hand in hand.

The ultimate peace comes from meditating on Nārāyaṇa.
